After getting delayed by a year due to the pandemic, one of the biggest events in the world is finally happening and here’s what to expect.

Taking place over the next six months, think of Expo 2020 as an event that brings the world together to showcase their culture and biggest innovations With its theme of “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ Expo 2020 is going to be new platform to encourage creativity, innovation and collaboration across their three sub themes, Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability

Spanning over 4.38 square kilometers, the expo site is located at Dubai South within easy reach of Dubai and Abu Dhabi International Airports. The three thematic pavilions embody the spirit of their respective sub themes through their architecture, content and programming offering guests an attractive immersive and educational experience like no other.

There are 192 countries participating in the event, each of them will have their own respective pavilion, a world expo first. Pavilions are located based on their chosen sub-theme to make their experiences more relevant to their surroundings

What’s an expo without their signature mascots! The UAE mascots have been inspired by UAE’s deeply-rooted history and embody the nation’s true values. One magical Ghaf tree, two intrepid Emirati siblings, and three helpful robot-guardians have been revealed as the mascot family of the world Expo.

Latifa the inquisitive eight-year-old who dreams of becoming one of the world’s greatest inventors and her nine-year-old brother Rashid deeply cares about the environment. The most interesting ones among all the mascots are, Salama, a desert-dwelling Ghaf tree that overlooks the Expo 2020 site, and three robots, Opti, Alif, and Terra - who each represent Expo 2020’s three sub-themes of Opportunity, Mobility, and Sustainability.

Alif - The Mobility Pavilion

Emphasizing on breaking down the divide between physical and digital worlds, Alif showcases cutting edge technologies including the world’s largest lift, a truly smart city created through artificial intelligence, big data, robotics, machine learning and autonomous transport.

You can even experience building your own robot or designing a space-ship. Don’t worry. We’re excited as you are.

Mission Impossible - Opportunity Pavilion

The Idea here is to unlock the potential within individuals and communities where even small actions can make a big impact. It’s about committing to making a difference and feeling empowered to actually getting things done. We all need to contribute to sustainable development goals and this seems like the perfect start.

Terra - The sustainability Pavilion

This would be the pavilion I am most excited about as you embark on a special journey for our planet and for a shared future. You’ll find real life solutions to real world problems here. Experiences like wandering through forest roots, diving into ocean depths and how the earth’s wonders have been corrupted due to pollution and climate change. There are 4912 solar panels on Terra - The sustainability pavilion’s 130 meter wide canopy and 18 energy trees that help help generate 4GWh of alternative energy per year which is enough to charge more than 900,000 mobile phones.

Tickets are available on the official Expo 2020 website and authorized retailers. From One Day Passes to an entire season pass, there’s options to choose from for everyone. The organizers have ensured that the prices are affordable so that everyone can be a part of history.
