Score 4.5 / 5

It’s fair to say that Belkin has come a long way from its humble beginnings. What started off as a computer cable company in founder Chet Pipkin’s home, is now one of the world’s leading manufacturers of computer and mobile accessories, wireless chargers, power banks, and surge protectors. They’ve pretty much got it all.

In 2020, right before the pandemic had hit the world, I had a chance to visit the company’s stand at
CES in Las Vegas, one of the biggest tech exhibitions in the world. The highlight of the trip was that many media professionals were given a sneak peak of what is yet to come from Belkin and it was impressive.

So, when Belkin asked me to review their latest Soundform Freedom True Wireless Earbuds, I was pretty certain I wasn’t going to be disappointed. Based on my early impressions, the folks at Belkin got a lot of things right which most OEMs haven’t with this kind of products.

Features

 What We Liked

Packs quite the punch when it comes to bass
Virtually impossible to lose your wireless buds thanks to Apple Find My
Sensational call quality on Zoom and other video conferencing apps
Quick 15-minute charging gives you 2 hours of playback time

 What We Didn’t Like

The charging case might be a little too big for tight pockets
The touch controls require a bit of a learning curve

 Design

Packing many features into such a small form factor is no easy feat but Belkin has managed to just do that. From Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) to Qi Wireless Charging, it has all the features of a premium pair of wireless buds but at a far more economical price.

The wireless buds themselves are very comfortable to wear for long hours either during work from home calls or while working out. I’ve managed to take them on a run, and they’ve stayed in place without any issues at all.

Sound Quality

Wireless buds have become an integral part of our lives. From work calls to jamming to your favorite tunes or listening to an insightful podcast, they’ve definitely made our lives a lot easier. But with so many options in the market, it might get overwhelming to choose the perfect pair that encompasses everything you could possibly need.
Back in 2020, Belkin had released the
Soundform Elite Hi-Fi Smart Speaker.

I still maintain my stand that it is the best sounding smart speaker till date. The only thing that comes remotely close might be Apple’s HomePod but HomePod speakers aren’t officially available here in the United Arab Emirates so there goes that.

Belkin definitely seems to have brought their expertise from the Elite Hi-Fi Speakers to the Soundform Freedom Wireless buds because these sound terrific. For all you EDM fans, the bass of these beauties is absolutely insane. Podcast fans can expect crisp and super clear voice quality for a very immersive experience.

Battery Life

Belkin claims these give you about 8 hours of continuous playback which is more than enough to get you through a regular day. Based on our real-world tests, we’ve managed to get close to about 9 hours of playback before the buds needed to be charged again.

However, it is important to know that battery life may vary depending on various conditions but for a regular user they should stick just fine.

Belkin has integrated a USB-C charging port which has definitely made life easier because there’s always a USB-C cable lying somewhere around. The highlight though has to be Qi Wireless Charging because though it might be slightly slower to charge compared to the conventional wired charging mechanism, it’s convenient if you’re just going to place it on the wireless charging mat before bed because you’re going to wake up to a fully charged case in the morning.

If you have
Belkin’s Boost Charge Pro which allows you to charge the iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods together, you could charge your SoundForm Freedom Wireless Buds there too.

Functionality

There’s no doubt that these are among the most feature packed wireless buds out there. The touch controls allow you to perform functions like increasing/decreasing volume, playing and pausing tracks, and answering and rejecting calls.

The Qi Wireless Charging is a nice added bonus and a rare-find at this price point but my favorite feature has to be Find My. You could open up the Find My app on your iOS device to locate the device if you ever lose it. The app sends a signal to the charging case which then emits a high frequency sound to help you find them.

Overall Verdict

In a nutshell, we absolutely love them. You simply can’t go wrong with the kind of expertise Belkin brings to their products. They sound great. They have amazing battery life. They can handle your intense workouts. What more would you need?

The Soundform Freedom True Wireless Earbuds are currently available at all leading retailers for AED 299 which is an absolute steal at the given price point. They’re available in both rgb(0, 0, 0) and white color options.
